
According to the US Geological Survey data for July 2021, the United States exported 45,600 tonnes of aluminium scrap to Malaysia. That was down by 2,000 tonnes or 4.20 per cent month-on-month from 47,600 tonnes. In May 2021, the exports to Malaysia stood at 42,000 tonnes, meaning the exports in June increased by 5,600 tonnes or 13.33 per cent from the previous month.

On a year-on-year calculation, the United States aluminium scrap exports to Malaysia in July 2021 recorded a fall as well by 6.75 per cent from 48,900 tonnes.
In the first seven months of 2021, the United States exported 282,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap to Malaysia, an increase of 31.78 per cent from 214,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
Following Malaysia, India and South Korea were the next two leading aluminium scrap importers from the United States. While the former imported 34,100 tonnes, the latter imported 21,100 tonnes in July 2021.
The United States total aluminium scrap exports amounted to 170,000 tonnes in July 2021, reflecting a month-on-month increase of 13,000 tonnes or 8.28 per cent from 157,000 tonnes. On a year-on-year calculation, the exports registered a hike of 7.60 per cent from 158,000 tonnes.
