Upstate Shredding acquires the assets of an auto recycling company

Brant Auto Parts, located in Irving, N.Y. was founded in the year 2003, has been serving Hamburg, Buffalo and Dunkirk, N.Y. and also the surrounding areas for a period of more than ten years. The company received the Evans-Brant Chamber of Commerce Small Business award in the year 2007.
“This location is perfect for our western expansion plans as we continue to build out our footprint and acquire yards that are strategically located in the Northeast,” says president of Upstate Shredding, Adam Weitsman.
Upstate Shredding said this deal made is a cash transaction and Brant Auto Parts’ existing staff will be retained. Brant specializes in recycling of all types of ferrous as well as non-ferrous scrap metal and this includes automotive batteries as well.
“We have had a number of suitors looking to acquire our yard as we have continued to grow over the last 10 years,” says Tim Dodson, former owner of Brant Auto Parts. “This business has been a fixture in our community and it was very important to us that whomever we considered selling to had the same community focus that we do.”
He adds, “We are very excited to join the Upstate Shredding - Ben Weitsman family, and we look forward to all of the positive improvements and growth that this location and our community will experience as a result.”
This acquisition provides the company its 18th location – Ben Weitsman. Upstate Shredding operates a mega shredder at its headquarters at Owego and is also installing auto shredders in New Castle, Pa and Albany, N.Y.
