According to the international export-import data, aluminium tubes and pipes import by Spain is likely to rise in 2019 after a drop last year. The data shows the import this year is expected to come in at 9,017 tonnes, compared with 7,871 tonnes, meaning a growth of 15 per cent. In 2018, Spain’s import had also increased by about 6 per cent year-on-year, as the import volume in 2017 was at 7,440 tonnes after recording a sweeping growth of about 110 per cent from 3,536 in 2016.

In tandem with the growth in Spain’s aluminium tubes and pipes import, the cost is also foreseen to record a rise. Compared with US$30 million in 2018, Spain’s aluminium tubes and pipes import cost is likely to come in at US$38 million, up 27 per cent. The global export-import data shows that Spain’s import cost also grew last year from US$28 million in 2017, representing an increase of 7 per cent. In 2016, Spain reportedly imported aluminium tubes and pipes at a value of about US$12 million, which indicates a soar in the value of Spain’s import in 2017 by about 133 per cent.

South Africa is expected to be the leading supplier in 2019, providing 2,546 tonnes at US$ 10 million, followed by Portugal 1,132 tonnes at US$ 3.9 million, Belgium 1,155 tonnes at US$3.4 million and Italy 1,046 tonnes at US$3.7 million.
The constant growth in Spain’s aluminium tubes and pipes import indicates an increasing use of aluminium tubes and pipes, particularly in the building construction sector. For having a distinctive combination like versatility and affordability, the demand for aluminium extruded products seems to be unstoppable. Other advantages like high strength to weight ratio, air tightness, corrosion resistance, and receptiveness are making aluminium pipes and tubes even more popular in building construction.
