
The week witnessed announcement of India’s first zero-discharge aluminium dross processing unit in recycling sector. Some of the major highlights of the week are:
India’s projected aluminium hub, Odisha’s Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated India’s first zero-discharge aluminium dross processing unit in Jharsuguda. The facility has been developed up by Runaya Refining LLP.

Stora Enso and Tetra Pak will enter into a partnership to jointly provide circular solutions to the market. The partnership, that follows a comprehensive feasibility study, will introduce a large-scale carton repulping line at Stora Enso’s Ostroleka production unit in Poland, investing Euro 29.1 million in total.
On 20th July 2021, the aluminium dross recycler, Runaya bags a Bronze Stevie in the Innovation in Energy & Sustainability category for its breakthrough solution for mineral waste processing in Mumbai.

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has successfully certified REAL ALLOY against Performance Standard certification for recycling of aluminium scrap and production of recycled aluminium alloys at Deizisau, Germany plant, and at European Headquarters in Grevenbroich, Germany.
Taiwan’s imports of aluminium scrap from the US stood at 2,640 tonnes in April 2021, with a year-on-year decrease of 13.73%. Taiwan had imported 3,060 tonnes in April 2020. On a month-on-month basis, imports increased by 9.54% from 2,410 tonnes in March 2021, as updated by the US Census Bureau.

Mexico’s aluminium scrap exports to the United States in April 2021 stood at 19,900 tonnes, almost flat compared to 19,300 tonnes a month ago, found the US Census Bureau. However, the exports in March recorded a month-on-month growth of 42.96 per cent from 13,500 tonnes.
