
Mexico’s aluminium scrap exports to the United States in April 2021 stood at 19,900 tonnes, almost flat compared to 19,300 tonnes a month ago, found the US Census Bureau. However, the exports in March recorded a month-on-month growth of 42.96 per cent from 13,500 tonnes.

On a year-on-year calculation, Mexico’s aluminium scrap exports to US in April 2021 stood 44.20 per cent higher than 13,800 tonnes.
In the first four months of the year, Mexico exported 67,200 tonnes of aluminium scrap to the US, which were 20,700 tonnes or 44.52 per cent higher than 46,500 tonnes during the same period last year.
Mexico’s total aluminium exports (including aluminium crude metals and alloys and aluminium plates, sheets and bars) to the United States came in at 26,900 tonnes in April 2021 – 900 tonnes or 3.46 per cent more than in March 2021.
Mexico’s total aluminium exports in the first four months of the year pegged at 90,000 tonnes, up 63.63 per cent year-on-year from 55,000 tonnes.
The United States total aluminium scrap imports in April came in at 62,900 tonnes, down by 0.47 per cent month-on-month from 63,200 tonnes but up 88.32 per cent year-on-year from 33.400 tonnes.
