Protests fail to move Anrak
Despite facing stiff opposition from local tribals on mining bauxite reserves in the Agency area, Anrak Alumina Company is believed to be going ahead with pre-commissioning of the plant in the next six months. The refinery at Rachapalle in Makavarapupalem mandal near Narsipatnam is almost ready and its operations would begin in March 2012.

Sources said the company is going ahead with its plans to meet raw material requirement by importing bauxite ore from Indonesia till it gets all clearances. Sources said since the clearances from the environment and forest ministry could take a longer time, the company has made plans to import bauxite ore what with the plant already in place.
