According to the International Aluminium Institute data, primary aluminium production in Africa during the second quarter of 2023 totalled 397,000 tonnes, up by 5,000 tonnes or 1.28 per cent from 392,000 tonnes in Q1. But the daily average output in Q2 remained restrained sequentially at 13,100 tonnes.
Norsk Hydro wrote a letter to the London Metal Exchange last week urging to rethink the decision not to ban Russian aluminium from its warehouse network. Norsk Hydro believes that a large volume of aluminium arriving from Russia is weighing on the benchmark metal price on LME.
