
According to the Shanghai Metals Market, social inventories of primary aluminium rose 23,000 tonnes on the week across eight major consumption areas, including SHFE warrants. SMM data showed the inventories as of Thursday, September 23, came in at 789,000 tonnes. The increase was mostly contributed by Wuxi, Nanhai, and Gongyi.
Last week, on September 16, primary aluminium inventories stood at 766,000 tonnes by gaining 15,000 tonnes from the previous week.

In Nanhai and Wuxi, primary aluminium inventories rose 11,000 tonnes and 10,000 tonnes to come in at 237,000 tonnes and 247,000 tonnes, respectively. Inventories in Gongyi increased 5,000 tonnes to peg at 71,000 tonnes as of September 23.
Meanwhile, in Shanghai and Hangzhou, primary aluminium inventories dropped 2,000 tonnes and 1,000 tonnes to close at 69,000 tonnes and 81,000 tonnes, respectively. In Tianjin, Chongqing, and Linyi, inventories remained muted at 67,000 tonnes, 3,000 tonnes, and 14,000 tonnes, respectively.
