Canyon Resources Limited has reportedly appointed a new Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary named Nick Allan with an immediate effect. The appointment of Mr Allan followed the resignation of John Lewis, the former CFO/Joint Secretary of Canyon Resources.

Nick Allan is a chartered accountant and comes with more than 25 years’ experience in commerce, corporate advisory and public practice. He previously worked with several ASX-listed public companies as the chief financial officer and company secretary.
Early last month, Canyon had appointed senior bauxite executive Rick Smith as Chief Development Officer of the company. Mr Smith focuses on supply chain, offtake, and strategic partner negotiations for Canyon’s Minim Martap Bauxite Project in Cameroon. He joined Canyon with more than 35 years’ experience in a variety of international locations relating to new markets, business development, exploration, feasibility studies, and construction in bauxite and alumina projects.
Canyon Resources is currently progressing on the infrastructure required for its two-stage development of the Minim Martap Bauxite Project in Cameroon.
In November last year, Canyon completed a scoping study, which revealed that stage one would be a self-supporting bauxite mining operation with a simple, low cost and fast track shipping to market using the existing rail and port facilities. Stage two would aim higher export volumes and lower operating costs with the implementation of the Kribi rail extension allowing access to a deep-water port.
In mid-February this year, the Project Manager, James Durant, said the long-awaited exploitation of Minim Martap Bauxite deposit in Northern Cameroon could be started in 2022.
