
Mexico imported 13,400 tonnes of aluminium crude metals and alloys from the United States in February 2023, according to the US Geological Survey. The import volume was 4.29 per cent or 600 tonnes fewer month-on-month than 14,000 tonnes but reflected a rise of 16.52 per cent from 11,500 tonnes a year ago.

In the first two months of 2023, Mexico’s aluminium crude metals and alloys imports from the US totalled 27,400 tonnes, up by 26.27 per cent from 21,700 tonnes during the same period of the previous year.
Mexico continued to be the highest importer of the United States’ aluminium crude metals and alloys in February 2023, followed by Malaysia, importing 10,200 tonnes of metal. On a month-on-month calculation, Malaysia’s imports edged an increase of 35.46 per cent from 7,530 tonnes.
The United States exported 29,300 tonnes of aluminium crude metals and alloys in February 2023 compared to 29,100 tonnes in the previous month, showed the USGS data. Hence, the export volume registered no major change on a month-on-month basis but recorded a hike of 64.61 per cent from 17,800 tonnes a year earlier.
During January-February, the United States’ aluminium crude metals and alloys exports amounted to 58,400 tonnes – 66.38 per cent more than 35,100 tonnes during the corresponding period of the last year.
