Fenesta commissions Kota aluminium extrusion plant, opens a new business vertical

Fenesta has commissioned a new aluminium extrusion plant in Kota, Rajasthan, expanding its presence in the aluminium value chain and creating a new business vertical serving external customers.

The Gurugram-based windows and doors business of DCMShriram Ltd said the facility will initially support its internal extrusion requirements, giving the company greater control over production and reducing its reliance on external suppliers.

The plant will also supply aluminium extrusions to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and other users, allowing Fenesta to participate directly in the wider extrusion market.

Bringing extrusion in-house

The Kota facility is expected to strengthen Fenesta's control over a key part of its manufacturing chain. In-house extrusion will also support the company's ability to develop new aluminium systems for its windows and façade businesses more quickly.

The move comes as aluminium becomes an increasingly important part of Fenesta's product portfolio, with applications spanning windows, façades and other areas.

“Aluminium is an important and fast-evolving segment for us, with significant potential across windows, façades and other applications,” said Saket Jain, Business Head, Fenesta.

He added that the extrusion plant gives the company greater control over a critical part of the value chain while strengthening its ability to “innovate, scale and respond more efficiently to market requirements.”

Fenesta expands beyond captive requirements

While the Kota plant will meet Fenesta's own extrusion needs, its ability to serve OEMs and other aluminium extrusion users gives the investment a broader commercial role.

This creates a new avenue for Fenesta to supply aluminium extrusions beyond its core windows and doors operations, while the in-house capacity provides greater control over the materials used across its existing businesses.

The commissioning therefore marks both a vertical integration move and an expansion of Fenesta's aluminium business, with the Kota facility positioned to support internal demand as well as external customers.
