Metro Mining has released results for the month of July and reported bauxite production of 443 thousand wet metric tonnes (WMT) and shipments of 463 thousand wet metric tonnes (WMT). This marks a month-on-month growth of 3.8 per cent in production and 24 per cent in shipments, bringing the total amount of output and shipments to 1.32 million tonnes (wet) and 1.29 million tonnes (wet) respectively during January-July.

Bauxite mined per day in July amounted to 14,290 tonnes (WMT), compared to 14,231 tonnes (WMT) last month and shipment per day came in at 14,935 tonnes (WMT), in contrast to 12,467 tonnes (WMT) in June 2019.
Metro managing director and chief executive officer Simon Finnis said: “The mining and shipping results are certainly very pleasing and are clearly reflective of the dedication and hard work of the entire on-site team.”
He also said: “We are still trending upwards as our team gains experience with our operation, and the improved work systems have enhanced our productivity.”
“The company is confident of maintaining these levels throughout the year and remains on track to meet production and shipping guidance of 3.3-3.5 million tonnes,” he added.
Metro has recently updated the reserve and resource for the Bauxite Hills mine following the first year of mining. The total reserve estimate for Bauxite Hills is now 109.5 million tonnes (wet), an increase of 17.3 million tonnes or 18.8% from that published in March 2017.
