British furnace and casthouse expert Mechatherm International has announced the opening of its third Indian office, situated here in Kolkata. This expansion into Eastern India reflects the company's strengthening role under the Chairman Chris Emes to the country's rapidly expanding aluminium sector and comes on the back of the successful launch of its earlier offices in Pune and Chennai.
The new Kolkata office will function as a key operations hub for Mechatherm in a region where metallurgical industries abound, with large aluminium producers prominent among them. It will better facilitate the company's direct on-site sales, technical assistance, and project management representation to its expanding client base in West Bengal, Odisha, and the adjacent states.
“We have recruited seasoned industry professionals to provide project management, site installation and commissioning support for projects in the region helping to expand our capacity overseas,” the company said.
An eye to India wide coverage
Collectively, the three offices provide Mechatherm with total coverage throughout the most important regions of India. Since more than 50 years ago, Mechatherm has provided customised, state-of-the-art equipment to the world aluminium industry, with particular expertise in casthouse technology, melting and holding furnaces, heat treatment solutions and downstream processing equipment.
The establishment of the Kolkata office brings Mechatherm within reach of its Eastern Indian customers. It also reflects its faith in the sustained growth of the Indian aluminium market. The company looks to be a major part of the ongoing modernisation and expansion of the sector. This is a major trend fueled by growing demand from the automotive, construction, and renewable energy sectors, and Mechatherm will now help propel these.
Mechatherm Sales Director, Mark Allen, said: "This next step in our global development will provide a far higher level of service and support for our valued Indian clients. We see the growth in the Indian market as key to our future and this move cements us as one of the leaders in this important region."
