
Three-month LME aluminium opened at $2,853 per tonne yesterday and closed at an intraday high at $2,942 per tonne, an increase of US$89 per tonne or 3.13 percent. Open interest rose 13,000 lots to 295,000 lots, and trading volume was 187,000 lots.

On Wednesday September 22, LME aluminium cash (bid) price surged by US$22.5 or by 0.78 percent to close at US$2,886 per tonne. The LME official settlement price inched by US$23 or by 0.80 percent to settle at US$2,887 per tonne. 3-month bid price and 3-month offer price stood at US$2,905.50 per tonne and US$2,906 per tonne. December 22 bid price was recorded at US$2,770 per tonne and the offer price for the same day was found to be US$2,775.
LME aluminium opening stock for September 22 stood at 1304725 tonnes. Live warrants were recorded at 706700 and cancelled warrant stood at 598025.
LME aluminium 3-month Asian Reference Price closed at US$2,915.54 per tonne as of September 22.
SHFE Aluminium Price Trend
Benchmark aluminium SHFE increased by US$108 per tonne to close at US$3,614 per tonne on Thursday, September 23.
The most-traded SHFE 2111 aluminium closed up 2.03 percent to RMB 23080 per tonne, with open interest down 5912 lots to 126000 lots.
Overnight, the most-traded SHFE 2111 aluminium contract opened at RMB 23,390 per tonne, with the highest and lowest prices at RMB 23,495 per tonne and RMB 23,135 per tonne before closing at RMB 23,315 per tonne, up RMB 235 per tonne or 1.02 percent. Open interest rose 13,000 lots to 295,000 lots, and trading volume was 187,000 lots.
