Industrial Disputes Tribunal steps in at Noranda Bauxite

The referral follows a breakdown in conciliation talks which went on for hours at the labour ministry yesterday.
The ministry said the parties were unable to reach an agreement in relation to an incentive pay scheme.
The more than 200 workers represented by the UAWU, are reportedly upset at a decision by the management to make changes to the company’s incentive scheme.
The UWAU said each year the company pays out a bonus to workers based on a certain set of targets.
It said the funds which are set aside are usually distributed equally among the workers.
But the union says the company has decided to pay the bonus based on the annual pay of workers.
The union says it believes this is unfair and unjust to some workers who will receive less money as a result of the change to the incentive scheme.
