
In April 2021, India’s aluminium scrap imports from the United States stood at 30,300 tonnes, almost flat compared to 29,700 tonnes in March 2021, found US Geological Survey. In February, India imported 27,200 tonnes of aluminium scrap from the US, 12.86 per cent more than 24,100 tonnes in January. India’s aluminium scrap imports in March grew 9.19 per cent from its previous month.

On a year-on-year calculation, India’s aluminium scrap imports from the US in April 2021 jumped 191 per cent from 10,400 tonnes.
In the first four months of the year, India’s total aluminium scrap imports from the US amounted to 111,000 tonnes, up 4.72 per cent from 106,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
The United States aluminium scrap exports in April 2021 came in at 172,000 tonnes, reflecting an increase of only 2,000 tonnes month-on-month. In March, United States exported 170,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap compared to 160,000 tonnes in February.
Total aluminium scrap exports by the United States during January-April 2021 stood at 655,000 tonnes, 12.54 per cent more than 582,000 tonnes a year ago.
