Indian Mining Industry Association requests export duty rollback
The Federation of Indian Mineral Industries has submitted a petition to the minister of Mines, Dinsha Patel, requesting him to withdraw and revise the export duty on bauxite.

According to the petition, as a result of the export duty on bauxite, India has seen a 11% decline in exports. "The proposed levy will also force mine closures in states like Gujarat and Maharashtra and jeopardize the direct and indirect employment of people," the letter said. "We request the Government of India to withdraw export duty of 10% levied on export of low grade bauxite," FIMI said.
