Hydro to introduce solar-inspired edition of its extrusion-design manual

“It is a practical engineering and application guide to creating aluminium extrusions, from a solar perspective,” said Allan Bennett, who is responsible for the company’s solar business in North America. “We want it to give designers, engineers and developers technical insight and guidelines into taking advantage of extruded aluminium’s performance characteristics and advantages.”
The manual includes information on:
• Physical properties
• Extrusion manufacturing and tolerances
• Joining and fabrication techniques
• Surface treatment and corrosion resistance
• Recycling
Hydro will also feature mounting systems, structural components and electrical connectors for solar and wind power systems. Hydro’s products typically include more than 70% recycled aluminium content. Visitors to the booth will receive a free Solar Design Manual on compact disc (CD).
Also, at its plant in Phoenix, Arizona (US), Hydro has just added 60,000 square feet (~5600 square metres) of manufacturing space dedicated to fabrication, including computer numerical control (CNC) machining and product assembly, and has doubled its number of engineers for customer and operational support.
