Highway Roop acquires Chamundi to expand aluminum die-casting, machining capabilities

Highway Roop Precision Technologies Limited, backed by Carlyle, has completed the acquisition of Chamundi Die Cast Private Limited, an Indian manufacturer of complex, precision-machined aluminum die-cast components for automotive and industrial applications.

The acquisition adds aluminum die-casting and precision-machining capabilities to Highway Roop’s existing forging and machining platform. The combined business will serve applications across steering, transmission, powertrain and electric vehicle components while expanding Highway Roop’s manufacturing footprint into South India.

Chamundi’s capabilities complement Highway Roop’s existing strengths in forging and precision machining, allowing the company to offer a broader range of lightweight engineered solutions. Lightweighting has become an increasingly important focus for OEMs seeking greater efficiency across vehicle powertrains.

Chamundi also brings a growing portfolio of EV components and established customer relationships across India, North America and Europe, expanding Highway Roop’s presence across both geographies and end markets.

Mohit Oswal, Chairman of Highway Roop, said the acquisition marks an important step in the company’s efforts to build a scaled and diversified precision manufacturing platform focused on mission-critical torque and control applications.

He added that Chamundi’s capabilities and customer relationships complement Highway Roop’s existing operations and strengthen its ability to serve automotive and industrial customers.

South India footprint strengthens manufacturing network

The acquisition expands Highway Roop’s manufacturing presence into South India, bringing production closer to key customers while diversifying its manufacturing network.

Dharmesh Arora, Group CEO and Director of Highway Roop, said Chamundi’s integrated aluminum die-casting and precision-machining capabilities expand the company’s ability to produce complex, lightweight engineered solutions across different vehicle technologies.

According to Arora, the South India manufacturing base also helps diversify Highway Roop’s footprint and strengthen the resilience of its manufacturing network and supply chain.

Chamundi has more than four decades of operating history and has built its business around engineering capabilities, its workforce and long-standing customer relationships.

Yasin Khan, Managing Director of Chamundi, said the company will continue to hold a stake in the combined entity following the transaction. He added that Highway Roop’s capabilities and scale could help Chamundi deepen customer relationships and develop new opportunities for employees.

Acquisition expands aluminum and EV capabilities

The transaction strengthens Highway Roop’s position across precision manufacturing by combining its forging and machining platform with Chamundi’s aluminum die-casting capabilities.

The addition of die-casting is particularly relevant to lightweight component manufacturing, while Chamundi’s growing EV portfolio provides Highway Roop with exposure to components for electric vehicle technologies.

The acquisition brings together complementary manufacturing capabilities and is intended to strengthen Highway Roop’s offering to automotive and industrial customers globally.
