Government to return seized mining equipment to Exton Cubic

EDITED BY : HEENA IQBAL 1MINS READ

Government has decided to release the seized mining equipment belonging to Exton Cubic following the cancellation of revocation order of bauxite mining lease. The company’s bauxite mining lease was revoked by the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry in September last year.

The mining equipment was seized on the instruction of the Ashanti Regional Minister, Simon Osei Mensah, and the District Chief Executive of the Atwima Mponua District.

The Ashanti Region Minister has confirmed that minister will release seized equipment belonging to company’s sub-contractor, Ibrahim Mahama’s Engineers and Planners (E&P) if officially informed by the Attorney General department.

Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, a member of the company’s legal team told Citi News last week that “The decision taken by the honourable minister as captured in the letter of 4th September stands quashed that what it means, that letter communicated a certain invalidation, so if that invalidation is set aside, then it means that we are back to where we were.”
