TALKS over the future of a massive Territory mine are going down to the wire.
Rio Tinto's lease over the bauxite and alumina operation on the Gove Peninsula expires on May 29.
But the Northern Land Council and Alcan have yet to reach an agreement.
Both parties have agreed not to talk to the NT News during the negotiations.
