EEG announces the launch of 17th Annual Can Collection Day

Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) has announced to launch the 17th Annual Can Collection Day on Feb.27.
Emirates Environmental Group‘s chairman Habiba Al Marashi, stated that campaign for this year aims to collect a number of 27,000 kilogrammes of aluminium cans for recycling.
Special sites will be allocated on the Can Collection Day throughout the country for delivering the cans to facilitate the recycling process.
She added that the municipalities of various Emirates involve and the relevant government agencies have coordinated to make the launch of Can Collection Day a success. EEG is also looking forward to bigger participation and support from private sectors this year.
Al Marashi explained that EEG has managed to make a collection of 25,426 kilogrammes of aluminium cans last year, exceeding the target they had set for the year 2013. Since the inception of this campaign, it has gained a huge support from every sector of the society- be it the government or private sector or academic institutions or families and individuals. As a result of this, EEG has successfully made a total collection of 199,493 kilogrammes of aluminium cans so far and it has resulted in the mitigation of 2,995 metric tons of CO2 and saved 4,843 m3 of landfill space.
