Europe’s Beverage Can Shipments Outpace the Americas by 6% as Ardagh Expands in the UK and Spain
Europe’s beverage-can market outperformed other regions in the third quarter, prompting Ardagh Metal Packaging (AMP) to accelerate its investment plans with two new production lines at existing facilities in the UK and Spain. Global beverage can shipments rose 2 per cent year on year in the three months to September 30, while Europe recorded 6 per cent growth, contrasting with a 1 per cent decline across the Americas. AMP announced the expansion alongside third-quarter results that exceeded its own earnings guidance, allowing the company to raise its full-year adjusted EBITDA outlook. Silgan and AIP strike $3.4b Trivium deal to create new aluminum packaging giant
Silgan Holdings and funds affiliated with American Industrial Partners (AIP) are set to acquire Trivium Packaging in an all-cash deal valued at approximately $3.4 billion. The transaction will combine Trivium’s aluminum and metal packaging operations with Silgan’s Metal Containers’ aluminum and steel segment and food and beverage flat cap closures businesses, creating Silgan Metal Containers and Closures (MCC), a global aluminum packaging business valued at $7.3 billion. Silgan will hold a 60% stake in the new entity, while AIP will own the remaining 40%. Operations will be concentrated primarily in North America and Europe. India’s aluminium can crunch: 300 million cans short as certification deadline shifts
India’s aluminium beverage-can industry has fallen around 300 million cans short of its planned additional production, as rising demand and supply constraints continue to challenge domestic manufacturers. The government has extended the mandatory Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification deadline for aluminium beverage cans to 2027, giving manufacturers more time to expand production and secure packaging supplies ahead of the summer season. The revised deadlines, notified last week according to an industry executive cited by The Economic Times, replace the earlier October 31 deadline. Crown Holdings raises earnings outlook as global beverage can volumes grow 6%
Crown Holdings has lifted its full-year earnings outlook following a 6 per cent increase in global beverage can shipments in the third quarter of 2026, as stronger demand helped offset rising input costs. The packaging manufacturer now expects adjusted diluted earnings per share of USD 8.35-8.45 for 2026, alongside adjusted free cash flow of at least USD 950 million. Ardagh Metal Packaging sale preparations can resume after Luxembourg court lifts injunction
Ardagh Holdings S.A. can resume preparations for a potential sale of its stake in Ardagh Metal Packaging S.A. (AMP) after a Luxembourg court lifted an order that had prevented the parent company from proceeding with the transaction. The ruling, issued on 14 October by a summary judge at the Luxembourg district court, allows Ardagh Holdings to re-engage with its advisers on a possible sale.
