Advance Central PA, the regional workforce development board, is proud to announce that Chance Aluminum Corporation of Williamsport has received a Governor's Achievement Award.
Presented jointly by the Pennsylvania Workforce Development Association and the Department of Labor and Industry, this prestigious award honours companies with exceptional commitment to workforce development, community engagement, and economic growth throughout the Commonwealth. Chance Aluminum was recognised for its strong partnership with PA CareerLink, which has been instrumental in supporting the company's expansion and enhancing employee skill development opportunities.
"At Chance Aluminum, our commitment to innovation and growth extends beyond our products – it's reflected in our people," stated Sara Oleck, director of human resources. "Partnering with PA CareerLink has been a transformative step in advancing both our hiring efforts and overall business success."
Since reopening the previously shuttered aluminium mill in Williamsport in 2021, the company has made significant investments to expand the facility, rehire many former team members, and create new, well-paying jobs. The company has already grown its workforce and plans to continue expansion through 2027.
The US-based company has implemented a range of employee well-being initiatives to attract and retain talent, including flexible scheduling, forward-credited paid time off, healthcare advocacy, and access to employee assistance programs.
Through its partnership, Chance Aluminum has successfully tapped into a pool of qualified candidates, strengthened its workforce, and aligned hiring strategies with long-term business objectives. This collaboration has included hosting tailored recruitment events, developing targeted job postings, and participating in On-the-Job (OJT) training programs that have equipped new hires with critical hands-on experience.Additionally, it has leveraged labour market analysis services provided by PA CareerLink and Advance Central PA to remain competitive in wage offerings and stay ahead of emerging workforce trends.
"Chance Aluminum sets a great example of what is possible when a business is invested in its workforce and community. Their partnership with PA CareerLink shows the value in employers and workforce systems collaborating to create sustainable, long-term success," said Erica Mulberger, executive director at Advance Central PA.
