

China Aluminum International Engineering Corporation (Chalieco) has announced that it has signed an updated EPC contract for a 1 million tonnes per year alumina project in Indonesia with PT Inalum.
{alcircleadd}The project has now been split into two parts. The alumina plant was completed on February 11. The second part includes the tailings system. It started on March 1 and is expected to continue until June 30, 2027.

The company said that if the project progresses as planned, it could support its financial performance. However, it also noted that there are several risks during execution and said it will manage these risks and provide updates when needed.
Chalieco is expanding its work in Indonesia. It is working closely with PT Inalum and PT Antam Tbk on alumina and aluminium projects.

It is also looking to take part in Phase II of the project and other aluminium-related developments in the country.
Indonesia is becoming an important market for aluminium and nickel projects. Chalieco is expanding in the region through local partnerships and by seeking more contracts.

According to project plans, Indonesia plans 900,000 tonnes per year primary aluminium, 30,000 tonnes of secondary billets, and 2 million tonnes of alumina by 2029.
