Castool Tooling Systems, part of Exco Technologies and a top tooling provider for extrusion and die-casting companies, has upgraded its capabilities. They added a Nitrex nitrocarburizing system to their facility in New Market, Canada. This expansion involved collaborating with various furnace suppliers.

Nitrex is a global leader in surface treatment solutions, serving customers in over 20 countries. With 35 years of experience, they offer turnkey heat-treat systems, reliable technologies, proprietary instrumentation, digital controls, and surface treatment services to help customers achieve higher quality and profitability.
The new nitrocarburizing furnace, called NX-1625, can handle up to 6000 kg of materials, measuring 1550 mm in diameter and 2500 mm in height. It uses Nitreg®-C nitrocarburizing and ONC® post-oxidation technologies to enhance the durability of H13 tool steel shot sleeves. These technologies make shot sleeves stronger and longer-lasting, even in harsh conditions, and eliminate the need for additional finishing after treatment.
Nikola Dzepina, Nitrex Account Manager, said, "Although Castool is a new customer from the equipment side of our business, they have been outsourcing nitriding to our heat-treating services for many years and have been impressed with the quality of service and customer experience, The parent company of Castool, Exco, was also a terrific reference. They have been using an in-house Nitrex system since 2011 for nitriding extrusion dies. Our process expertise and strong reference base were crucial factors in getting this order."
