Can Art expands US aluminum footprint with BRT Extrusions acquisition

The US aluminum extrusion sector is seeing another consolidation move, with Can Art Aluminum Extrusions acquiring BRT Extrusions, an aluminum extruded products supplier based in Niles.

Can Art confirmed the acquisition in a letter sent to BRT customers earlier this week. The financial terms of the transaction are yet to be disclosed.

According to the customer communication, the combined organization will have over 1,000 employees and 15 extrusion presses.

The expanded group will also offer a range of value-added aluminum processing capabilities, including wet paint, powder coating, fabrication and anodizing. Its operations will span 10 locations, giving the combined business a broader manufacturing footprint.

The acquisition has also drawn a positive response from the local business community.

Youngstown-Warren Regional Chamber President and CEO Guy Coviello welcomed Can Art Aluminum Extrusions to the Valley, highlighting BRT’s longstanding role in the region’s manufacturing base.

“BRT has long been an important part of the Valley's strong manufacturing base, and we're excited to see what bringing these two manufacturers together can mean for the company, its employees and our region,” Coviello stated.

The acquisition brings together two manufacturers to create a larger aluminum extrusion ecosystem with value-addition to an expanded production line.
