Bauxite prices in major Chinese provinces gain after a long gap; other raw materials remain flat

Bauxite and prices in the domestic China market have registered the first gain on June 26 since May. Throughout June bauxite prices remained flat in all major Chinese provinces. Mining operations in major bauxite-producing regions Shanxi and Guizhou were mostly suspended in May as the central government ramped up anti-pollution measures in these regions. This has caused tightness in supply in a month and raised the prices in these provinces.

As reported by Shanghai Metals Market, average Bauxite (6.0=Al/Si<7.0) prices in Henan province were up from RMB 380/t to RMB 385/t on June 26.  Bauxite (4.5=Al/Si<5.5) prices in Henan province were up from RMB 275/t to RMB 280/t on June 26.

Bauxite (5.5=Al/Si<6.5) prices in Guizhou province registered a 4.35% gain from RMB 230/t to RMB 240/t on June 26. Bauxite (6.5=Al/Si<7.5) prices in Guizhou province were up from RMB 295/t to RMB 305/t on June 26.

The average Bauxite (6.0=Al/Si<7.0) price in Shanxi has gained from the last registered price of RMB 350/t to RMB 360/t on June 26. The average Bauxite (4.5=Al/Si<5.5) price in Shanxi has gained from the last registered price of RMB 275/t to RMB 285/t.

As on June 26 2017, Bauxite prices in Guangxi province remains flat in May- June with no change registered on daily prices.

According to Shanghai Metals Market record, price of Prebaked Anode remains flat in all the three major China markets (East China, Southwest China and Central China). The average prices are expected to stay within a range of RMB 3,600-RMB 4,200 per tonne.

Price of Cryolite (CH-0&CH-1) is currently ranging at RMB 6,000-6,200 per tonne and the price of Aluminum Fluoride(AF-0&AF-1) will move within a range of 9,000- 9,200 per tonne.

Spot alumina prices in major China markets remain unchanged after the last drop on June 14.
