According to a recent report, a team of scientists in India has developed a new cost-effective and efficient aluminium scrap recycling technology that reduces material losses in the process. UK-based asset manager Ashmore funds to sell stake in Pakistan aluminium can manufacturer
A group of funds managed by the UK-based asset manager Ashmore Investment Management Limited is planning to sell a part of their stake in a Karachi-based beverage packaging manufacturer Pakistan Aluminium Beverage Cans Limited (PABC). The funds are looking to sell 26 per cent of the stake through a first-time share sale in Karachi in June 2021, said PABC CEO Azam Sakrani; while the remaining 51 per cent holdings will be invested through a private placement to local investors, according to Syed Saquid Ali, director of investment banking at Arif Habib Ltd. and the sole adviser to the IPO. According to the data shown by the International Aluminium Institute, primary aluminium production in East & Central Europe rebounded in March 2021 to 353,000 tonnes as was in January. Therefore, on a month-on-month calculation, the output in March recorded a hike of 34,000 tonnes or 10.66 per cent than 319,000 tonnes in February, while on year, the output stood slightly down by 1,000 tonnes from 354,000 tonnes. China’s aluminium scrap imports during January-February 2021 totalled 107,200 tonnes, recording a year-on-year decrease of 12.3 per cent, found the China customs data. In January, China imported 69,100 tonnes of aluminium scrap, which stood 16.21 per cent down month-on-month but up by 9.5 per cent on the year. In February, China’s aluminium scrap imports came in at 38,100 tonnes – 44.9 per cent less than in January 2021. Even on a year-on-year calculation, the import in February stood down by about 35.5 per cent. In December 2020, Mexico exported 11,800 tonnes of aluminium scrap to the United States compared to 10,600 tonnes in November 2020.
