
According to the data shown by the International Aluminium Institute, primary aluminium production in East & Central Europe rebounded in March 2021 to 353,000 tonnes as was in January. Therefore, on a month-on-month calculation, the output in March recorded a hike of 34,000 tonnes or 10.66 per cent than 319,000 tonnes in February, while on year, the output stood slightly down by 1,000 tonnes from 354,000 tonnes. However, the production in February 2021 saw a decline of 9.63 per cent than in January 2021.

Total production of primary aluminium in East & Central Europe during the first quarter of 2021 stood at 1.025 million tonnes, down by 1.54 per cent from 1.041 million tonnes in Q1 2020.
In West Europe, primary aluminium production also registered an increase over the month by 29,000 tonnes or 11.20 per cent to 288,000 tonnes. In February, the output stood at 259,000 tonnes, down by 26,000 tonnes or 9.12 per cent from 285,000 tonnes in January.
On a year-on-year calculation, primary aluminium production in West Europe in March 2021 stood marginally higher by 1,000 tonnes than 287,000 tonnes.
Total primary aluminium production in West Europe during Q1 2021 amounted to 832,000 tonnes – 2,000 tonnes or 0.24 per cent less than 834,000 tonnes during the same period last year.
