Rusal’s bauxite production records a 7.4% growth Q-o-Q while alumina output declines 4.5% in Q1 2021
Rusal has announced the first quarter of 2021 results, reporting that its bauxite production rose 7.4 per cent quarter-on-quarter and 6.3 per cent year-on-year to stand at 3.801 million tonnes. Rusal’s bauxite minings in Guinea produced 2.025 million tonnes in Q1 2021, while Russia and Jamaica produced 1.217 million tonnes and 558,000 tonnes, respectively. In March 2021, China’s aluminium wires and cables exports stood at 10,600 tonnes, reflecting a month-on-month decline of 4.1 per cent and year-on-year 61 per cent, found China customs data. On Tuesday, April 27, Rusal announced that its aluminium production in the first quarter of 2021 stood at 932,000 tonnes, with Siberian smelters representing 93 per cent of the total aluminium output. The production in Q1 reflected a quarter-on-quarter drop of 1.9 per cent from 950,000 tonnes and 0.8 per cent year-on-year from 940,000 tonnes.
