
According to the International Aluminium Institute (IAI) data, alumina production in West Europe stood at 491,000 tonnes in March 2021. That recorded a month-on-month increase of 11.85 per cent from 439,000 tonnes while flat over the year compared to 489,000 tonnes. West Europe’s alumina production in February, however, reflected a drop month-on-month by 8.35 per cent from 479,000 tonnes.

Total alumina output in West Europe in Q1 2021 amounted to 1.409 million tonnes, up by 2.10 per cent from 1.380 million tonnes in Q4 2020 but down by 0.77 per cent from 1.420 million tonnes in Q1 2020.
Alumina production in East & Central Europe also recorded a hike of 10.86 per cent month-on-month to 398,000 tonnes in March 2021. In February 2021, alumina output in East & Central Europe was at 359,000 tonnes, which was down by 12.44 per cent from 410,000 tonnes in January.
On a year-on-year calculation, East & Central Europe’s alumina production in March 2021 stood up by 6.13 per cent from 375,000 tonnes.
Total alumina output in East & Central Europe in Q1 2021 came in at 1.167 million tonnes, down by 5.12 per cent from 1.230 million tonnes in Q4 2020 but up by 5.04 per cent from 1.111 million tonnes in Q1 2020.
