ASI certifies Yunnan Yongshun Aluminium Co., Ltd. against Chain of Custody Standard Certification

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative has reportedly certified Yunnan Yongshun Aluminium Co., Ltd. against the ASI Chain of Custody Standard Certification for its smelting, casting and sawing activities for the production of aluminium alloy flat ingots.

Yunnan Yongshun Aluminium Co., Ltd., a joint venture between ASI Members Yunnan YunLv Yongxin Aluminium Co., Ltd. of Yunnan Aluminium Group and Xiamen Xiashun Aluminium Foil Co., Ltd., bagged the ASI Performance Standard Certification earlier in January 2021. The annual production capacity at the facility is 150,000 tonnes of mid-to-high-end aluminium alloy flat ingot.

The ASI CoC Standard sets out requirements for the creation of a Chain of Custody for material that is produced and processed through the value chain into diverse downstream sectors.

Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI, said: “We warmly congratulate Yunnan Yongshun Aluminium Co., Ltd. on their Chain of Custody Standard Certification. We are pleased to see the continued collaboration among several ASI Members to demonstrate responsible production and sourcing of aluminium at this joint venture operation, which follows the dual ASI Certification of one of its shareholder companies, Xiamen Xiashun Aluminium Foil Co., Ltd. It’s also a further positive sign that ASI’s work program continues to make inroads into the key global aluminium market in China.”

Shu Li, general manager of Yunnan Yongshun Aluminium Co., Ltd, said: “The successful approval of the ASI Chain of Custody Standard by Yongshun Aluminium Co., Ltd. has a positive effect on enhancing the level of Social Responsibility Management and ASI supply chain supervision in the aluminum industry, continuously enhancing and increasing the value of the company’s products, protecting and enhancing its reputation.”

The independent, third-party audit of the Yunnan Yongshun Aluminium Co., Ltd. plant was carried out by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services.
