AMC Appoints Principal Financial Advisor

AMC is a privately funded company developing its 90%-owned Koumbia Bauxite Project in Guinea, West Africa. The development of the US$812 million capex Koumbia Bauxite Project will position AMC as one of the world’s Top-5 bauxite producers and a major new independent bauxite producer in the Boké Bauxite Province in Guinea – a region which hosts around 40 per cent of global bauxite resources and currently only accounts for approximately 10 per cent of current global production.
The Definitive Feasibility Study recently completed by leading Perth-based engineering services provider, Proteus EPCM Engineers (refer to Press release dated 26 November 2012 for further information on the results of the Definitive Feasibility Study), confirms that the Koumbia Bauxite Project has the potential to underpin a world-scale bauxite business for AMC, with forecast production of high-quality direct ship ore (“DSO”) commencing in 2016 and ramping up to full production of 10Mtpa by 2018, with an overall projected mine life of more than 40 years.
AMC is planning to access interim and long term financing through equity and debt and contemplates involving strategic partners and/or off-take partners, as well as export credit agencies, development finance institutions, commercial banks and other debt providers. The appointment of HCF is another positive step towards the successful development of the Koumbia Bauxite Project and a demonstration of the Company’s commitment to commencing construction in 2013.
As part of AMC’s financing strategy for development of the project, Element Capital (Perth) have also been appointed to source interim funding to progress detailed engineering, ordering of long lead items and commencement of pre-construction activities. Element Capital was responsible for AMC’s previous fund raising in 2011, which saw Taurus Funds Management and Acorn Capital Limited take cornerstone positions in the Company.
