Alunorf rolling & casting facility in Neuss, Germany gets ASI’s Performance Standard certification

Aluminium Stewardship Initiative certifies Aluminium Norf GmbH (“Alunorf”) against ASI’s Performance Standard for environmental, social and governance performance.  Alunorf is the world’s largest aluminium rolling and casting facility in Neuss, Germany with more than 2,200 employees producing more than 1,500,000 tons per year and jointly owned by Hydro and Novelis.

This is the first joint venture to be certified against its standards for responsible production, sourcing and stewardship of aluminium.  Alunorf produces hot- and cold-rolled aluminium sheet in different alloy combinations for various applications. They ship their products as coil stock to the plants of both parent companies for further processing into finished products. They are used for making cans and other packaging, automotive body applications, shipbuilding parts, facade and ceiling panels and other building and construction parts.

The ASI Certification is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the global aluminium value chain. The program has been developed over the years through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process. The independent, third-party audit of Alunorf was carried out by GUTcert (AFNOR Group).
