
The United Arab Emirates, one of the top aluminium exporters, exported 555,000 tonnes of aluminium (crude metal and alloys, aluminium semi-finished products and scrap) to the US in 11-month period of 2018, according to the latest Mineral Industry Survey report from US Geological Survey. This records a drop of 6.88 per cent over last year.

{alcircleadd}In November alone, aluminium exports by the UAE to the US stood at 45,500 tonnes, up 43.53 per cent year-on-year, but down 8.45 per cent month-on-month. The biggest aluminium exporter in the UAE, EGA exports the major portion of its aluminium and ships the rest domestically.
Crude metal and alloys export dropped 6.93 per cent year-on-year in 11-month period of 2018. Export decreased from 592,000 tonnes in the first eleven months of 2017 to 551,000 tonnes in the first eleven months of 2018. In November, exports stood at 45,100 tonnes. This was up 42.72 per cent year-on-year, but down 8.33 per cent month-on-month.

Semi-finished products (plates, sheets, bars, etc.) exports to the US stood at 2,630 tonnes in 11-month period of 2018, as compared to 295 tonnes in 11-month period of 2017. In November, the UAE exported 367 tonnes of semi- finished products to US, up 5.76 per cent month-on-month.
Exports of aluminium scrap dropped 41.27 per cent year on year to 1,850 tonnes during January- November 2018. The UAE had exported 3,150 tonnes during January- November 2017. Exports in November 2018 stood at 41 tonnes.
