A look at the future of Indian aluminium die-casting through ALUCAST 2014

2MINS READ
ALUCAST 2014, the biggest exhibition in the Aluminium Die Casting industry, is due to be held between 4th to 6th at BIEC, Bangalore.

At this exhibitions stakeholders from the die casting industry will come together bringing with them their display of products and services they offer which include categories like: aluminium die casting, recycling, automation of the casting process, post casting operations, melting practices and metal treatment, heat treatment specialists and the like.

The President of ALUCAST 2014, Mr Prasan Firodia said that India has emerged as an important contributor in the global aluminium supply chain while this industry in turn has become important for the Indian economy as well, contributing 7% in the GDP. Since the future of the auto component industry looks bright with development in the infrastructure and entry of the newer FDIs, the die casting industry will also get a new life since nearly 60% of the Indian die casting is used in the auto industry.

The secretary further emphasized that India is the world’s third largest producer of aluminium castings with an annual output of 900,000 tonnes. India also holds around 1,400,000 thousand tonnes of bauxite as reserve base which means there is huge potential for the country to grow in term of aluminium production as well as die casting.

This year’s theme for ALUCAST 2014 is “Lightweighting of Aluminium Castings” which is very appropriate and relevant at present as the world’s biggest automakers seem to be interested in making their cars lighter through aluminium.

This 6th ALUCAST event will take place at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre which is spread across 40,000 sq. m that is completely covered an air-conditioned.
