The 2016 presidential election of Ghana is round the corner and candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has promised Ghanaians that if his party comes into power in the December 7 elections, he would make industrialization his prime agenda for Ghana.

According to the candidate, his party would undertake mining of the vast untapped bauxite deposits in Kyebi, Atiwa plains and Nyinahin. He not only intends to mine and export bauxite, but plans to put it into value added applications by building an integrated aluminium industry.

He explained that he wants to facilitate the export of finished aluminium products through the aluminium industry. This, he said, had been his vision for several decades and stressed that“the time has come for us to move our industrial development forward.”

The NPP leader assured these in his address at a huge election rally at Nkawkaw on Wednesday, November 30, 2016.

As pointed out by Nana Akufo-Addo, The establishment of the Integrated Aluminium Industry would provide thousands of jobs for the unemployed youth residents in the Eastern Region of Ghana and also throughout the country.

“There must be jobs in our country. The lack of jobs, which is the case under this government, poses a threat to the future stability of our country…We want to construct a bright future for the Ghanaian people,” Nana Akufo-Addo said.

“We want to reposition the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre to focus its attention on attracting investment, both domestic and foreign, into these strategic industries – iron and steel, cement, bauxite and aluminium, petrochemical industry, vehicle assembly and the manufacture of machine parts and equipment. These are going to be the industries for which we are going to anchor our industrial development,” he concluded.
