Ball Corporation recognises and celebrates the outstanding contributions of its suppliers across several key areas that are critical to the world’s biggest canmaker’s success. The criteria for the Ball Supplier Excellence Award include Operational Excellence, Cost and Value Leadership, Sustainability, Innovation and Continuous Improvement. Speira has now been honoured with this award in recognition of its performance.

“Congratulations to Speira on this well-deserved recognition. This award reflects the strength of our partnership and the collaboration that helps us deliver for our customers every day. We value Speira’s commitment and look forward to continuing to build a resilient, high-performing supply chain together,” explains Hayden Smith, Chief Procurement Officer at Ball Corporation.

Aluminium recycler and roller Speira reliably supplies large quantities of its ORBIS alloy, which has a particularly small environmental footprint thanks to its third-party certified recycled content. The can sheet goes into production for key client Red Bull, who promotes the sustainable circular business model and continues to reduce the environmental footprint of its consumer goods. This is because not only the recycling rate for beverage cans is, for example, in Germany already over 99 per cent, but the process scrap from can production feeds directly back into Speira’s reuse.

“Speira advanced a new model for strategic partnership along an entire value chain and, thus, taking circularity on a new level. They are really setting standards for transparency and traceability, and that helps us to rely on the lowest-carbon solutions for our beverage packaging,” says Werner Depauly, Global Head of Procurement at Red Bull.

“We are very happy about the Supplier Excellence Award. Our teams are effectively aligned and have built trust across organisations, supporting outcomes that benefit all parties involved. It is a great confirmation of Speira’s ambition to supply aluminium with the highest recycled contents, reliably meeting our customers’ demand in quality and further development and, thus, setting a benchmark in sustainability,” explains Boris Kurth, Head of Business Unit Can at Speira.

The Ball Supplier Excellence Award recognises the behaviours that drive shared success and highlights the critical role supplier collaboration plays in helping Ball Corporation deliver for its customers each and every day. It reflects the shared commitment to building a resilient, high-performing supply chain.
