Vasco locals have reportedly demanded strict action against the trucks transporting bauxite ore because of increasing dust pollution in the town. They have even threatened to hit the streets themselves in case they are not heard and the situation continues to prevail. The locals claim that the bauxite ore transportation by MPT has not benefitted them in any possible way but has created nuisance instead.

Besides dust pollution, traffic chaos is another reason why Vasco locals are demanding for an immediate action against the bauxite ore transportation.
A local says the bauxite ore is transported through the MPT to Karnataka and this is causing nuisance in the port town.
Councillor Krishna Daji Salkar says he has already requested the Chief Officer to look into the matter take action against the transportation.
He even says, "If they do not pay heed to warnings then we will be forced to serve notices. There is ore spillage on the road on account of the bauxite transportation which has caused severe pollution in the town.”
"I have written to the MPT chairman, District Magistrate and all concerned authorities regarding the problem, warning that Vascoites will be forced to take steps if the authorities fail in this regard," warns Daji Salkar.
Salkar informs that the sweeper who cleans the ore spills on the road has not been seen for quite some time.
