US records second month decline of aluminium plates, sheets and bars exports for July’23

The United States aluminium plates, sheets and bars exports continued to shrink month-on-month during July 2023 by 6,600 tonnes or 9.43 per cent to stand at 63,400 tonnes, found the US Geological Survey. The export volume decreased for the second month in a row as the United States exported 70,000 tonnes in June compared to 72,300 tonnes in the previous month.

On a year-on-year calculation, the United States aluminium plates, sheets and bars exports in July 2023 flaunted a hike of 62.72 per cent from 37,800 tonnes.

From January to July 2023, the United States exports totalled 461,000 tonnes, up by 79.38 per cent from 257,000 tonnes during the corresponding period of the previous year.

The United States exported 28,200 tonnes of aluminium plates, sheets and bars to Canada during July 2023 compared to 33,600 tonnes a month ago. That reflected an M-o-M decline of 16.07 per cent for the second consecutive month, following a fall of 8.74 per cent in June.

On an annual basis, the US aluminium plates, sheets and bars exports to Canada during July 2023 recorded a hike of 34.93 per cent from 20,900 tonnes to 28,200 tonnes.

In seven months, the United States exported 206,000 tonnes of aluminium plates, sheets and bars to Canada compared to 150,000 tonnes a year ago.
