
The United States aluminium scrap imports from Mexico decreased in July 2021 following restraint in the previous month. According to the US Census Bureau data, the United States imported 800 tonnes less of aluminium scrap from Mexico in July than the earlier month. The imports stood at 18,000 tonnes in July compared to 18,800 tonnes in June.

On a year-on-year calculation, the United States aluminium scrap imports from Mexico in July 2021 stood 62.16 per cent or 6,900 tonnes higher than 11,100 tonnes.
From January to July 2021, the United States total aluminium scrap imports from Mexico amounted to 123,000 tonnes, up by 38,700 tonnes or 45.91 per cent from 84,300 tonnes during the same period last year.
The United States total aluminium scrap imports in July 2021 stood at 58,100 tonnes, down by 4,400 tonnes or 7.04 per cent from 62,500 tonnes in June. However, on a year-on-year basis, the imports in July edged 27.97 per cent higher than 45,400 tonnes.
From January to July, the United States imported 410,000 tonnes of aluminium scrap in total compared to 300,000 tonnes a year ago.
