
Ukraine’s aluminium ore and concentrated bauxite import volume have reportedly increased by 6.3 per cent in H1 2018 to stand at 2.772 million tonnes, compared to 2.597 million tonnes in the corresponding period of 2017. But the cost remained down by 1.3 per cent to US$ 109.994 million, from US$ 111.423 million in 2017, according to customs statistics released by the State Fiscal Service.

The statistics also show that Guinea accounts for the major share of import cost and that is almost 58 per cent, followed by Guyana that accounts for around 36 per cent and then Brazil 5.48 per cent.
In the same period of time, the country reportedly re-exported 45 tonnes of bauxite to Poland and earned US$ 5000, whereas, in the contemporary period of 2017, the country had earned US$1000 from 22 tonnes of bauxite export to Poland and US$ 90000 from exporting 140 tonnes to Russia.
As per the report, Ukrain's total amount of bauxite import in the entire 2017 had increased by 21.8 per cent to 4.864 million tonnes, compared to 3.803 million tonnes in 2016. The cost had also increased by 36.9 per cent to US$212.370 million.
Guinea accounted for the highest cost of around 45.92 per cent, followed by Guyana and Brazil 28.72 per cent and 14.86 per cent, respectively.
Around 162 tonnes were re-exported that fetched earnings of US$10,000 as a whole. No re-exports were carried out in 2016.

According to the global export-import data, the expected bauxite import volume to Ukraine for the entire year of 2018 is 4.1 million tonnes, which means 16.5 per cent down from 2017. The cost is also forecast to stand low in 2018 by 29 per cent at US$149 million, compared to US$ 211 in 2017.
