
The US imports of crude metal and alloys rose 10% year-on-year to stand at 316,000 tonnes in May 2020. Crude metal and alloys import were at 287,000 tonnes in May 2019. Imports dropped 6.5% month-on-month from 338,000 tonnes in April, according to the latest Mineral Industry Survey report from US Geological Survey.

In the first five months of 2020, the US imported 1.57 million tonnes of crude metal and alloys as compared to 1.5 million tonnes in the first five months of 2019, which indicates a 4.67% increase year-on-year.
On the export side, the US exported 9,060 tonnes of crude metal and alloys in May 2020, from 20,900 tonnes exported in May 2019. That was down 57% year-on-year. On a month-on-month basis, the exports reduced by 9.2% from 9,980 tonnes.
In the first five months of 2020, crude metal and alloys exports stood at 74,900 tonnes, representing a decrease of 28% year-on-year. The US had exported 104,000 tonnes in the first five months of 2019.
