
The US imports of crude metal and alloys came in at 324,000 tonnes in April 2021, from 338,000 tonnes in April 2020, down 4% year-on-year, according to the latest Mineral Industry Survey report from the US Geological Survey. Imports increased by 5.19% from March 2021’s imports of 308,000 tonnes.

The US imported 1.12 million tonnes of crude metal and alloys in the first four months of 2021, as compared to 1.25 million tonnes in the first four months of 2020. This marked a decrease of 10%.
On the export side, the US exported 17,700 tonnes of crude metal and alloys in April 2021, from 9,980 tonnes exported in April 2020. That was down 77.35% year-on-year.
On a month-on-month basis, the exports dropped 9.23% from 19,500 tonnes.
In the first four months of 2021, crude metal and alloys exports stood at 68,200 tonnes, representing an increase of 3.49% year-on-year. The US had exported 65,900 tonnes in the first four months of 2020.
