StockachAlu’s remelting/refining and casting operations in Stockach, Germany have been certified against Aluminium Stewardship Initiative (ASI) Performance Standard and ASI Chain of Custody. The plant’s main outputs are rolling slabs made from recycled scrap. The facility has an annual capacity of 70000 tonnes.
The ASI Certification program is the only comprehensive voluntary sustainability standard initiative for the aluminium value chain. The program was developed through an extensive multi-stakeholder consultation process.
The independent, third-party audits of the StockachAlu facility was carried out by GUTcert (AFNOR Group).
Fiona Solomon, Chief Executive Officer at ASI said, “ASI congratulates StockachAlu on their Performance Standard and Chain of Custody certifications at their remelting and casting operations. The facility’s ability to recycle not only contaminated scrap, but also dross, into new aluminium rolling slabs shows both the sustainability potential of this metal and the important role the company plays in the implementation of a circular economy. Their dual ASI certification demonstrates that the company is committed to undertaking this production in a responsible manner.”
“We are proud to receive full ASI certifications for both Performance Standard as well as Chain of Custody Standard as this an important milestone for our company. Our high quality rolling slabs are 95% based on recycling material and therefore sustainability is at the very core of our business model. I would like to thank our team for the good work and dedication demonstrated in achieving this certification,” said Markus Wild, Managing Director of StockachAlu.
