On 16th March 2021, Luis Tudanca, the Secretary-General of the PSOE in Castile and León, has demanded that the Government of Spain should allocate European funds from the recovery plan for an aluminium industrial project that will create 700 direct jobs and 1,400 indirect jobs in Zamora province of western Spain.

Tudanca visited with Macario Fernández, the President of Latem Aluminum at the facility of the aluminium rolling factory and the research and development centre that the company is building in Villabrázaro (Zamora) as a complement to the industry of the sector that it already has in operation in Villadangos del Páramo (León).
The head of the socialists in the Community demanded that both the central and regional administrations bet with the funds that will come from Europe for a project "that needs financing, institutional support and unity of all to get ahead."
He highlighted: “Latem Aluminum industrial project meets the criteria of the recovery and resilience plan and is part of the policies to combat climate change.”
He stressed that it is "a project of circular economy and sustainability that combines the essential reindustrialization and job creation."
It is also an initiative to take advantage of hydrogen and renewable energies in which the Castile and León units will also collaborate in R&D projects and which will promote the training of young people.
For his part, the President of Latem Aluminum specified that the facilities under construction in the Villabrázaro industrial estate, which occupy a plot of 300,000 square meters, are expected to commence operation at the end of next year with the rolling of aluminium.
