Shipments of aluminium products in U.S. and Canada up YOY in August 2016

According to the estimate of The Aluminum Association, shipments of aluminium products in U.S. and Canada rise YOY and YTD in August 2016.

During July 2016, shipments of can stock by domestic producers totalled 374.4 million pounds, up 4.8 per cent over the August 2015 total of 357.1 million pounds. Sequentially, shipments increased 6.9 per cent from the July 2016 total of 350.3 million pounds. YTD shipments from January to August 2016 were 2,830.8 million pounds which recorded a rise of 1.5 per cent over the same period of 2015. The positive be noted here is that while producer shipments of can stock to U.S. markets rose 4.7 per cent to 318.2 million pounds in comparison to August 2015, exports recorded a fall of 8.9 per cent to 56.2 million pounds.

U.S. and Canadian producers shipped an estimated 83.5 million pounds of aluminium foil during August 2016, a rise of 1.8 per cent from the August 2015 total of 82.0 million pounds. Shipments were down 1.1 per cent from the July 2016 total of 84.4 million pounds. YTD shipments through August 2016 totalled 657.5 million pounds, slightly up from the same period of previous year.
