The Riverview Town Council has declared that it would make an investment of US$60,000 to rejuvenate the riverfront holiday light display system, which was recently destroyed by local goons, who stole connected copper wires that were electrifying the lights.

At a recent council meeting, these advancements were discussed, and it was decided that the copper wiring system would be replaced by aluminium to be cost-effective and not to attract criminal activities.
Aluminium is a cheaper alternative to copper, which is a semiconductor of electricity. Moreover, its lightweight provides ease in transport and boosts the entire installation process. Aluminium is infinitely recyclable, which extends the longevity of these wires, as they can be processed and reused later when they are in an end-of-life situation.
Throughout the months of January and June, repeated activities of theft have been recorded along the riverfront display area. But this was mainly because the lights were copper wire studded, which is a very expensive metal, and since wires use the purest form of raw material, they would be sold at a very high price.
Riverview Town Council has come up with a brilliant plan replacing the copper wires with aluminium. This will be much safer as no sane human being would go through the trouble of gaining some aluminium, with so much risk.
Councillor Sarah Murphy seems very proud of the recent decision and assures that the town will uphold its unique form of beautification through these lights but with an iota of financial responsibility.
“It is disappointing to see that it won’t be expanded to east Riverview, but hopefully, this will protect the longevity of our investment and continue with that plan in the future,” Murphy exclaimed.
Ward 3 Councillor Jeremy Thorne accused the vandals of looting happiness away from the neighbourhood, and he marks this as a shameful act.
A disappointed councillor, Throne, addressed the audience and said: “They’re taking Christmas away from kids and especially in Ward One. I know that we’ve wanted to expand down there for a while now. They’re stealing from their neighbours.”
The estimated time for this year’s Light Up Riverview program is November 24 to January 8.
