Aluminium cans are maintaining a clear lead in global beverage container recycling, with the latest 2026 data depicting a jump in aluminium can recycling rate from 74.8 per cent to 76 per cent. The figures place aluminium well ahead of PET bottles and glass bottles, highlighting the role of beverage cans in the global circular economy. 2026 secondary aluminium alloy enterprises mid-autumn festival and national day holiday survey
With the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays approaching, secondary aluminium alloy enterprises have successively finalized their production and holiday arrangements for the festive period. SMM recently conducted a survey on the double-holiday production plans, pre-holiday stockpiling, and raw material procurement of some secondary aluminium alloy enterprises, covering a total capacity of 4.2 million mt. As of September 24, SMM A00 Aluminium prices closed at RMB 24,240 per tonne, up slightly by RMB 60 per tonne from RMB 24,180 per tonne last Thursday, with domestic Aluminium scrap market prices holding steady overall. In terms of price spreads, on September 24, the price difference between A00 Aluminium and mixed Aluminium extrusion scrap free of paint in Foshan was about RMB 2,482 per tonne, and the price difference between A00 Aluminium and shredded Aluminium tense scrap was about RMB 1,261 per tonne. EU aluminium scrap export rules face BIR pushback over India, Malaysia, Thailand cut-off
The EU aluminium scrap market could face disruption if proposed changes to the Waste Shipment Regulation (WSR) restrict access to major Asian recycling destinations, the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) has warned. The Brussels-based association issued its response after the European Commission published a draft proposal on September 18 listing non-OECD countries authorised to receive certain non-hazardous materials from the EU . Financing expands Metycle’s capacity to source and supply secondary copper and aluminium at scale
Metycle , a global supplier of secondary copper and aluminium, has secured a USD 150 million credit facility from Rivonia Road Capital, a global private capital manager focused on asset-backed lending. The financing will support eligible transactions across the full trade cycle from supplier payment through buyer settlement, enabling Metycle to execute larger transactions, move greater volumes of secondary metals, and expand supply to industrial buyers and smelters.
